Question of the day - Please help!

QUESTION - I recently purchased a bedding item at Target.  It came in a plastic bag with a zipper.  When I got home, I opened the bag and someone had stuffed a bunch of baby clothes into the bottom.  WHAT?!  Someone had set it up to be stolen.  I was shocked.  Some people think I should keep it, since I didn't know it had all that stuff in it.  While I think that since it was meant to be stolen that I should not be in possession of it.  But a part of me wants to just get it out of my house but then donate it.  I have no clue.

What would you do???

  1. Take it back to Target and explain to them what you found. My hubby works there in Assets Protection and stuff like this happens more often than you think...

You won't get into any trouble, but it's the right thing to do :)

  2. That was one thing I was worried about. I didn't want them to think I had anything to do with it. There are such terrible people out there. Sad.

  3. I would just take it back. You didn't do anything wrong!

Left you a little award on my post today :)

  4. It would be a good gesture to donate them. You are innocent and it would be good to have some needy family benefit from this. xoxo

  5. Wow, that is crazy! I've never heard anything like this. I would take it back. That is probably the right thing to do.

What does your bedding look like? I am your newest follower!

  6. What! that is crazy. I say take it back to Target and explain to them that you found it in there. I'm sure they'll understand. I can't believe some people! Yikes.

  7. Take it back to Target and ask for a store credit. LOL--just kidding, I would never do that. I still feel guilty about the tiny decal I took from an open box of model car parts when I was 9!!!

Normally I would say take it back, but I'm feeling cynical today and thinking you might be returning it to the person who set it up. Donating is a great 2nd option.

  8. WOW, well I don't think you shouldn't keep it! Both choices would be ok. ;)

  9. Oh my gosh, that's horrible! I'd take it back and explain the situation. But not fun to have to deal with it at all. On a side note, how exciting that you got new bedding. ;)

  11. I agree to take it home & explain your honesty will be best.
I wouldn't keep it because it only hurts the store because their sales will be off and not to mention our economy even more than it already is!!

Wow, its sad people resort to that!!!
    Hows the bedding look!?

  12. hmmm, i think returning them or donating them are both good things to do. you had nothing to do with them being in your purchase, so doing either of those things would be right. good luck, i know you'll end up doing good either way. :D

  13. That's horrible, Amy! I would either take it back or donate it ~ there is probably a family out there that could really use it. xo

  14. Yikes, I don't know dude. Sounds like the concensus on here is to bring it back to the store... so, I'll vote for that.

  15. OH wow, that is crazy!! I can't believe someone would do that! I would take it back to Target and explain the situation, I'm sure they would understand and appreciate it.

  16. I would take it back to Target and let them know what happened. If anything, you won't have the feeling of guilt because you never returned it and you would be doing good by returning their products. I'm sure they would appreciate it.

How terrible of the person who did that! Just imagine, perhaps they were in the middle of doing it and heard something and took off and you were the person that found it before they got back to finish the deed. Craziness!

  19. whoa... that's weirddddd. i think i'd take it back. even though i'd feel like they'd think i meant to stole it... but if i did, i wouldn't return it right? :)

  20. I say donate them to Goodwill or something. :)

  21. Some people are saying if I return it they might accuse me of stealing it in the first place. Ack! I just wish it hadn't been in there. What kind of poopy people try to steal baby clothes? Funny thing is that the pillow cost a lot.

  22. Wow. that is one awful experience. Um...I prolly would not keep it. In fact, I'd prolly return it to the store and explain what had happened. But, totally up to you. It's unbelievable what some people do. No morals at all!

And to answer your question about the BioSilk, no you don't need anything special. But to be honest, if you have the money, I'd prolly get the shine treatment from a professional salon. I had it done a couple times before and oh my gosh! What a difference it made!

  23. Yikes! I would return the clothes for my own sanity! I think if you explain it to them they will understand. Sucks you have to go thru it though! xoxo

  24. I'd take it all back to Target and explain what you found. Even though it's a big corporation, it's still their property.

  25. it's so hard choice, actually i agree with most of them,,to take it back ,, but if you want to donate,, it doesn't wrong,,
i also being confuse if i'm in that situation, thank for share amy, it make me have to more vigilant :)

  26. Without a doubt I would just take it back. No one is going to accuse you of stealing it ... and even if they did, you've returned it.

  27. Wow what a weird thing to happen! Yeah I would take it back, and hopefully they will be understanding. I don't think they would accuse you of stealing it b/c if you had you wouldn't be bringing it back!

  28. That is a pretty weird thing to happen. Judging by the comments it says taking it back would be best and I think that too.

It's such a shame that there are so many dishonest people out there. Working in retail I see a lot of it! x

  29. Like most people here - I'd have to take it back. It's unfortunate and yes, I'd be a bit the same, worried they'd think it was me. But, the poeople there aren't silly, they'll know you didn't do anything wrong :)
ps I'll post the macaron receipe in a few days :)

  30. So strange!! Take it back to target...be done with it and get some good karma points too :)

  31. That is the weirdest thing ever. I can only recommend taking it back and explaining; I'm sure they'll be happy to replace it and doubt that they'll think you had anything to do with it (as if someone as sweet as you could do that!).

  33. What in the weird?!

I'd take it back. But that is just so weird! I can't believe people would set someone else up for stealing!

  35. Oh, I would definitely return it! That is so weird, though, and sad. I heard one time about people stealing small flat screen tvs by putting them in a dartboard box and then the cashier just rings up the dartboard! Come on now, it's just really sad, I can't stand a thief. Let us know how it turns out, Amy! XO!

  36. Haha that's so weird. I would just give it back to Target.

  37. Either return them to customer service or donate them. I'm sure that who ever was trying to steal them got spooked and then you beat them to the item. Maybe I'll start unzipping my items before the register from now on.
Good luck with your circumstance! So strange.

  38. Take it back. Explain the situation. You did nothing wrong; therefore, you can't get into trouble. :)

  39. Aww. you're such a sweet girl to be so worried over this. I'd just take it back to Target next time I was there and explain what happened. or if it was really out of the way, I'd just donate it.
    Good luck sweetie!

  41. Wow people are seriously crazy for doing that!
You should take it back to Target. Maybe they will reward you =)

  42. The best thing would be to take it back. The company looses money over it while it's in your possession. So even though you aren't intentionally stealing, it is if you don't take it back.

I would definitely take it back to Target and explain the situation - they will be grateful that you did!
