Then I'm all 7 for all Mankind and Paige. Oh how I love Paige. Anyway, so venturing out to other brands is huge. That means they're amazing. And these are. Great price, fun colors, good fit. I love adding pieces around our home that are unique and unexpected. I think it keeps modern decor from looking too stark. When I saw this wooden alphabet in bookhouathome's etsy shop, I just had to have it. We bought it in September, but busy parents can relate... we just now put it up!

A few more items I purchased from bookhouathome. Arounna screenprints her own designs onto totes and pouches. I bought a big stack of these pouches to give out as stocking stuffers next month. The tote is perfect as my 2nd diaper bag. Its canvas so I don't feel bad about tossing it around.

Here's another unexpected piece we added a few months ago. It's a wooden chandelier from uncommon handmade. It's actually quite large in person but looks small in the photograph. I love white accessories amongst all our dark wood furniture.

Wow, right?! I said nothing to provoke it. There is an Etsy seller that copys a lot of my designs and a few other designers, and I mentioned on my Facebook page (and in previous blog posts) that those types of actions affect me. And that is the response I received. I would love to tell everyone who this person is, but I'm above that. I just wanted to share with you all some of the pitfalls of working hard and trying to move up and foward... there is always someone that wants to bring you down. My friend said it best, "The best revenge is to LIVE WELL!" Fantastic advice.

First off, thank you everyone for the sweet comments on my previous post. I just love the photograph so much. Someone told me that it looks very peaceful... I think so too.

I've been very bad with blogging because I've been keeping very busy with my etsy shop and my sweet little Gavin (who is actually crying as I'm typing this, becaues I'm not paying attention to him... ).

My Birthday, Father's Day, and A Wedding!

Talk about busy!!! A wedding on Saturday. It was at a pretty vineyard in Washington. Everything was lovely except for all the rain. It just wouldn't let up. But that's typical weather for us. Yes, even in June!

Gray is the new black

Oh my goodness, I'm so sorry it has taken me so long to post the pouch giveaway winner. I've been working on several projects. Thank you so much to all of you that participated. I was really bad about not advertising my giveaway this time. NO TIME! My little bubba is getting more and more active everyday so it's hard to get time in front of the computer for more than a couple minutes. Anyway...without further ado...

She is a super sweet girl and if you haven't already been following her, you really should. She does these great gift swaps and it really makes me want to participate. When I get more time I definitely will. :)

I've been on this DIY kick as of late. Wanting to decorate our new home without breaking the bank. I saw these amazing zig zag (chevron) patterned pillows for $50 on the internet and thought to myself, why not just make them myself?! So, I found the same exact fabric for $7.95 and made 2 cases from it. And instead of buying the inserts, I used the matching pillows that our sofa set came with.

I also made one from linen and a designer white textured fabric as well. Don't you just love them?!

*side note, this is not how I set them up on the sofas.

Oh and here is the duvet cover we bought from West Elm. Our headboard is not arriving until next month so I'll wait till then to take a photo of our bedroom. But here's what it looks like...

I LOVE GRAY!!!!!!!

I'm not sure if this is really gray, because they call it "mink" on their site... ASOS and this is the first time I'm ordering this color from them. But, it sure looks gray. I just ordered it for one of the many weddings we're attending this year (4 so far). It's in June at a winery and our June weather is usually still a little chilly. I thought the long sleeves were a good idea. Plus, isn't it so pretty?!?!?! You can't tell from the photo but the sleeves are open all the way to the wrists.

DIY Linen Ribbon Board

I've done several DIY projects and I always forget to share the process with you. So, I thought now would be a good time to do that. Sharing is caring right?

So, we bought a frame from Ikea to put one of our wedding photos in and during a past move my hubby stepped on it and broke the glass. Great. Well, I held on to it for the last 2 years trying to think of something to do with it. I spotted some cute ribbon boards at Pottery Barn for $55 (board plus rod) and thought why spend all that money when I have all the supplies at home?!

Supplies:
1 - frame - any size
1 - hot glue gun
4 - glue sticks
1 - pair of scissors
1 - ruler or tape measure
ribbon - any color or size (I used 3/8" in light pink.)
fabric - slightly larger than frame (I used an old linen scrap I got on sale.)

First make sure bubba is secure in swing. Check.

Get your frame. This is an old one without the glass. You won't need the glass anyway.

Take it apart. Put the mat aside (if it came with one). You'll be working with the board.

Cut out the fabric slightly larger than the board. Don't bother measuring. Just eyeball it.

Get your hot glue gun ready. I use the smaller one on high.

Also, invest in the silicone pad. It catches all the drips and the glue just peels right off!

Pull the fabric taut and glue into place.

Cut the corners so you get a nice edge. You can skip this step.

But if you do it, it looks nice. No one will see this so it doesn't really matter.

If you did it nice and taut it will look smooth like this.

Check up on bubba and see what he's up to.

Cut and place your ribbon out on your board where ever you want it.

Some people go vertical and horizontal.

I wanted to go diagonal at 3" apart.

Hot glue the ribbon to the back of the board. Pull it really tight to get a good fit.

VERY important.

Cut and place ribbon again going the other way. Weave it in and out.

Meaning, go over, under, over, under.

When you're done it should look like this.

If your frame came with a mat, go ahead and glue it to the back to just make it even more secure.

You don't have to do this, but I had the extra mat so why not.

Put the frame back on with no glass.

Tada! You're done. Now put your favorite cards or photos in there for a nice decorative look.

And there, using stuff I already had, I just saved myself $55. You can buy the same frame at Ikea or I bet you could find some really cheap ones at a garage sale, antique shop or Goodwill. They even make spray paint that will cover just about any material out there. Have fun!

My bestie and her brood came down to visit the family. I heart them so much! I used to put makeup on just to go grocery shopping. I was always dressed perfectly and always looking polished. Now I'm lucky to take a shower before I head out. Life as a new mother is definitely a huge change for me. I still care about how I look but it's different now. As long as I feel good, that's all that matter. And I'm feeling pretty darn good these days all thanks to my family. Although, it is nice to get dolled up once in a while. My friends visiting us from out-of-town was a great excuse.

Wow talk about busy. Phew! We just moved into our brand new house! I need to take some photos and share them with you when we get some more decorating done. It's still such a mess. We're settling in pretty well and I don't miss our rental home at all. Being first time home owners is so amazing! Such a dream having a loving husband, wonderful amazing baby boy, and a new home to call our own. I feel truly blessed.

Anyway, Gavin is 3 months old now. Can you believe it? He just started rolling over from his tummy to his back. A big milestone. I was just jumping up and down with joy. His first attempt made him a little grumpy, but now he loves it!

Happy 3 month birthday bubba!

I'm back to my pre-pregnancy weight... yay! But I have a long way to go on getting my muscle tone back. I just started Winsor Pilates at home again. I haven't found anything else that I like as much. Wish me luck!!

I started using this amazing self-tanner mousse by St Tropez. It's a mousse and so easy to use. It doesn't have that telltale self-tanner smell, which I love and it just glides on your skin. It's hard to get off your hands so I suggest getting their self-tanner remover as well. Along with my body, I want my tan back! This stuff works!!

My new tan will look awesome with my new lace skirt I just picked up from Forever 21. I haven't been shopping much for myself these days because my clothing sizes keep changing. Wedding season is around the corner. We'll be attending 4 weddings this year. That is definitely a record for us. Couldn't be more excited for everyone. This is also a busy time of the year for me because brides are starting to get all their favors ordered for receptions and bridal showers. Here I am at the hospital getting ready to be induced and eventually end up having a cesarean. My doctor said I was all baby. I felt so big, but I was so insanely excited for little Gavin to arrive. I feel like tearing up just thinking about it.

The hospital was amazing. The rooms were perfect. The staff was awesome. Thank you Legacy!!

Here we are on New Year's Eve. First New Years in a while that we didn't go out. I think we had about 10 seconds of sleep that week. I was very happy to stay home with my family.

And here's me almost 7 weeks post pregnancy. Laundry, baby toys and junk in the background due to lack of space and time. No make up just out of the shower due to lack of time. What a mess! But I love my baybeh! And I love the fact that I'm only 2 lbs away from my pre-pregnancy weight. Yahoo!

Motherhood is so fun and exciting. Everyday is a new special day with Gavin. We just love him with all our hearts. He's growing so fast. Today he's 9lb15oz. Our big boy! I ended up having a cesarean because he was just a little too big for me to birth naturally. He started lifting his head all by himself on day 1 and now he's starting to coo and smile. It's just so precious. He makes the cutest facial expressions and makes me smile all the time. About half the people say he looks like me and the other half say my hubby. I think he's a perfect mix of both. LOVE HIM!!

Good Peoples: One of my recent clients Chalice ordered several custom linen drawstring pouches from me and requested to have a different name stamped onto each pouch. I had no idea what she was using them for, but I was happy to fulfill her request. She just told me that they are being sent to Uganda and being filled with Christmas goodies for these amazing girls. Getting my suitcase packed

For some reason I've been slacking on getting my suitcase fully packed for the hospital. From my last stay at the hospital I definitely made note that I need to buy some indoor/outdoor slippers. I just ordered these cuties online today, so hopefully they'll be here before baby. I've never owned a pair of furry slippers or shoes like these before but they're pretty cute, a good price, and since it's almost impossible to get my own socks on... they should work out great.

I'm 37weeks3days today and even though I'm so uncomfortable and achey all over, it's been so fun getting to experience all of this. Being pregnant is such an amazing gift and I couldn't be more excited to hold my baby boy for the first time. I could cry just thinking about it. My friends and family have been so amazing through all of this. Always willing to help out. And my hubby... he had a little difficulty adjusting in the beginning and never knew what to say or do, but he's really pulled through and I couldn't have done this without him (well duh... obviously... lol... you know what I mean). Yay for babies!!!

P.S. This is on my Christmas wishlist. My hubby and I always exchange lists. Much less stressful. I'm not even a big The North Face person, but I need a winter boot with good tread and that's still darn cute. I think these nailed it!

My friend's gorgeous wedding

I just want to say sorry real quick for not visiting your blogs like I used to. Everything takes 10 times longer for me and I am so ready to have this baby. Our laptop died earlier this year so we've been using our new desktop and after you get used to a laptop, it's hard to sit at a desk for this long.

Anyway, my friend got married over the weekend. I was having a lot of contractions earlier that day (we had actually gone to a memorial in the morning as well), so I wasn't sure if I was going to make it. It was at the Crystal Ballroom in downtown Portland. Just gorgeous! I'm so happy for the newlyweds. Such a fun and exciting time. The lighting wasn't the best for my camera, but here's some photos. Please excuse the uncomfortable look on my face... it was because I was very uncomfortable. Everything is aching.

We left after they cut the cake. I just couldn't get my feet to dance the night away with the rest of them. Plus, it was insanely difficult weaving in between all the chairs and tables during the reception to get to the bathroom. My belly has gotten so HUGE! I just can't believe it. I wonder if Baby Stewart is going to be a big boy?

I gave it a trial run at Thanksgiving. It's so comfortable I could sleep in it. I wore flats like everyone suggested, so it's a bit long but I absolutely love it! There I am in the background. For some reason we didn't take a family photo like we usually do. I did win Jenga though. Woo hoo!

It's Almost Time!!

Hi. It's been a while. So much has been going on! I was in the hospital for a few days. I was having severe head, neck, and back pain for 3 days. I hadn't had that kind of pain before so they told me to check into the hospital. I started having frequent contractions and only being 33 weeks at the time, they put me on an IV drip. A little bit too early for Baby Stewart to arrive. I'm 36weeks3days today and doc says my body is getting ready for labor, so I'm thinking he'll be here in the next week or so. Yay!!!

The food wasn't too bad. They let me choose. There was a chocolate cake over to the left. Yum!

They put me in the birthing center just incase. My hospital is amazing.

Fantastic doctors, nurses and huge rooms!

I was happy about having cable. Watched HGTV the whole time!

We're almost done with the nursery. So exciting!! I'll share some photos after it's done. I have a lot of work to catch up on, so this is it for now. But I'll be back to my usual posts soon. Thanks for your patience. I hope everyone had a great Thanksgiving!!!

Pregnancy Stuff...

I'm currently 32weeks4days pregnant. I have a little over 7 weeks (give or take) before I get to meet our little boy. Part of me feels like that's light years away and the other part of me feels like "Oh my gosh nothing is ready!" Exciting either way. We haven't even started working on the nursery yet, because the baby furniture we ordered (crib, dresser, changing table - a gift from hubby's parents) has not arrived. We ordered everything in August. It's been very frustrating to say the least. I will definitely post pictures when I get it all done. Along with the baby shower photos!

We've been to a few birthing classes already and it's been very informative. I highly recommend attending those if you're pregnant. This weekend we have a baby care & breastfeeding class. That will be interesting.

Big New News...

Oh and I'm also very proud to announce... drum roll please...

We just purchased our first home!!

It's been a long time coming, but well worth it. It's a custom built home and so we get to pick out all our amenities. I'm so excited! They should be breaking ground at the end of the month or so, which means we'll be moving about end of February or mid March. It'll be a while before I have anything to take a photo of, but I will be sure to take photos as the construction progresses. Yay us!

Getting close!

Hi guys! So super sorry I haven't been around lately. When I reached my 3rd trimester I started feeling nauseous again and the insomnia came back. I'll be 31weeks tomorrow and I'm very, very tired. My back, neck, joints and muscles all ache, it's hard to take a deep breath, my digestion is really sensitive, and as sleepy as I am... I can't sleep! So, needless to say, it's hard for me to sit at my computer to blog, but I did want to say hello.

My belly is getting way big, which I love and Baby Stewart is kicking up a storm! I have about 8 weeks to go and I couldn't be more excited to meet our baby boy. Our baby shower is this Sunday and my sister is going to be the photographer. So, I will try my absolute best to post those right away.

What a busy week! We picked up our Teutonia stroller last weekend. Oh my goodness... is it ever cute?! I'll save the photos for until we have our little baby boy inside. We are incredibly happy with our investment.

So, I mentioned earlier that we're attending a wedding in December and that I'll be 37weeks that day. I have been on the hunt for an easy-to-wear, affordable dress that would fit my belly and still look pretty. I just ordered a maternity dress from Asos (they just launched their U.S. site btw) and I think it's a winner. While I'm on the jewelry topic, did I ever show you my wedding ring? Here's the most beautiful and loved piece of jewelry I will ever own. Everytime I look at it, I'm reminded of one of the happiest days of my life and of how much I love my husband.

We got engaged on our 3 year anniversary and married 1 year later on 2.21.09. Love.

Love is in the air

Sorry I missed a few days of blogging. On Friday I drove down to work with my sister on some Twigs & Honey pieces. She lives 1.5 hours away from me, so it was a full day. Saturday the hubs and I stayed in our PJs all day and relaxed for the first time in a while. Felt good! Yesterday we went to our friend's engagement party.

We're attending another wedding this December, while I'm 37 weeks. That'll be fun! And so far we're attending 5 weddings next year. Wow! I'm absolutely loving all this happiness around me. It is so amazing to be a part of all these celebrations.

Yesterday - Good food, good company, good times. I only have a minutes before I head out so here's a quick post and a few photos.

My new diaper bag! It is so cute and roomy, I'm very tempted to start using it as my everyday bag right now! There are so many pockets inside and out, so it's really functional. I didn't want something with daisies or teddy bears on it. I wanted something stylish and easy to carry. I was going to get a unisex bag, but my loving hubby said he wanted me to be happy and would be glad to carry the diaper bag around even if it was covered in pink flowers. Sweet right?!

I bought a pair of Paige Premium Maternity jeans with the elastic waistband. They're so cute and Paige is definitely my favorite denim designer, but since I wear them under my belly, they tend to slide down during the day. Hopefully, the band will help. I'll take photos of it all next time I wear it.

I like seeing which celebrities are pregnant and due around the same time as me. Keeps me informed on what kind of clothes or baby things I might want to keep an eye out for. Ali Larter has the same due date as me! She's in the new Resident Evil movie. I love those movies.

That's just super cool.

Here's a peek at our baby shower invitations. Everybody seems to be going the technology route and sending shower invites to me via Evite. Which is totally fine, but I think it's so much sweeter when you get something in the mail. Plus, believe it or not, I still know people who don't use or check their email.

Have you noticed that I love dresses? Well, if you haven't... I do. They're easy peasey, plus you can wear them year 'round. Just add some tights and boots and you're set! Here's a few I like.

Busy Monday

I didn't get a chance to blog yesterday because we had a really full day. My parents bought us our baby stroller. It's so amazing. I saw it a few months ago and have been wanting it since. It's the Teutonia T-Linx Stroller System. It's coming from Europe, so it won't be here for another 2-3 weeks. I'll be sure to take some photos.

Our new Haan steam mop arrived. Works so well! We had been using Swiffer to mop up our hardwood floor but it leaves behind a lot of chemicals and I couldn't imagine letting our baby crawl around on that. No chemical residue and it's super easy to use.

Then we shopped around for baby shower invitations. I really wanted to make them all by myself, but sometimes DIY costs more in materials and time than just buying something. Anyway, we found some really cute letterpress paper that I'm going to print our invites on. I'll share some photos when I'm done.

We ended the day with some friends. My hubby's good friend has been visiting for the last several weeks from Slovakia and he's leaving in a few days. Seems like the older we get the more friends move away. That's just a part of life I guess. Good times though.

The wedding ceremony and the reception were lovely. It was great seeing another friend get happily married. And it was great catching up with old friends. My only complaint was that I wish they let the pregnant ladies go through the buffet line twice, because we get HUNGRY! We weren't able to make it to my other friend's birthday party because we didn't leave the reception until really late and being on my feet that long in high heels is tough these days.

My Favorite New Toy

I waited in line for 30 minutes outside of Best Buy's pre-grand opening. I made a bee-line for the cameras. Spent another 30 minutes getting out the door with my new favorite toy. Which I got on sale, thank you very much 2 hour one time only sale. Here is the big reveal...

just noticed i'm not wearing my wedding ring here. i don't wear them at home for risk of banging them around while i'm washing the dishes or doing laundry. i should have done my nails. yuck.

Isn't it just lovely?! I'm still a super newbie with these SLR cameras, so please be patient with my photos. We're attending my friend's wedding this afternoon and my other friend's birthday party tonight. Then the hubs is dirt bike riding tomorrow and Monday we're with friends and family. SO... that means lots of new photos. Yipee!

I absolutely love all my designer clothes and shoes, but I also love finding things at a great price. On a whim, I decided to step into a Payless on Friday. I was shocked, they had cute shoes! Plus, everything in there is BUY 1, GET 1 - 1/2 OFF!!!! I didn't take advantage of that great offer, but had I done so, my 2nd pair would have only been $10! They are by far the most comfortable flats I have ever placed on my feet. And me being pregnant, that says a lot.

Saturday we headed up to Hoodsport, WA. My hubby loves scuba diving. I like to go sometimes to enjoy the scenery. Feels so good getting out of the city sometimes.

Sunday we scoped out some park locations for our upcoming baby shower. I'm at 24weeks3days today. Knowing that we will be meeting our baby in 16 weeks is so amazing. We just picked up the crib mattress yesterday for the nursery. The crib will be arriving next month. So exciting!!! I'm looking forward to getting his room decorated and showing you guys. My parents surprised us with a huge bag full of baby clothes. Have you ever seen cuter socks?!

As I noted in my previous post, my friend's wedding is next weekend. I'm a high heels kinda girl, but I've been wearing flat shoes for the last 2 months. Reason being, comfort and also the fact that my mother and grandmother both told me that pregnant women shouldn't wear heels. I love you mom but I'm not going to a wedding wearing flip flops. Although, I have seen a many dudes wearing jeans and scrappy t-shirts to fancy weddings. I just don't get it.

As promised a baby bump photo. I am not very good at taking self-portraits, so I had to wait until I was with my sister, with her kickass camera and fantastic eye, to take one for me. I'm hoping I can finaggle her to take a few every time I see her. Along with my currently busy working-from-home schedule, I've also started helping my sister with admin stuff for her business. All the while trying my best to look as stylish as possible. If any of you are trying to get pregnant right now, invest in a lot of stretchy knit empire waist dresses. I live in them and they're so comfy and cute throughout your entire pregnancy. Plus, you don't have to spend so much money on trendy maternity clothes. Talk about breaking the bank.
